Conference Dates: 4-6 July 2012
Conference Location: Gold Coast, Queensland, AUSTRALIA
The theme of this year’s conference, “Connected by Trauma: Research, Response, Recovery” invites participants to discover and contemplate how new advances in brain science, innovations in service delivery, education, program consultation, clinical assessment / treatment and research, are improving the lives of infants, young people, families and communities affected by Trauma.
The Conference will focus on the impact of traumatic experiences from a developmental perspective in all its forms including the implications of single event trauma (such as natural disasters, accidents, and assault) and complex multiple-event trauma (such as abuse, neglect, and war).
ACOCT 2012 aims to improve the lives of traumatised young people by improving the understanding and practice of those who work to support, counsel, educate, protect and enrich them. The Conference will showcase wisdom from, academia, Government and Non-Government sectors (health, education, child protection, justice), and the private helping sectors – each with a distinct role, yet all engaged in understanding and assisting young people and families affected by trauma.
The conference will encourage collaboration of all sectors and engage key stakeholders that contribute to identifying and sharing the latest research, best intervention practices, and innovative ways to provide services and resources to young people, families and communities affected by trauma.
